People in Need is seeking a Warehouse officer – for its Syria/Turkey Mission/ based in Aleppo Countryside.


Position: Warehouse officer

Duty station: PIN Aleppo office

Line Manager: Aleppo Logistics coordinator



The general tasks of the Warehouse officer are as follows:



General Post Description

Supervising daily warehouses activities, providing follow of PIN warehouses, Providing the follow up and updating of PIN stock card and shipments and maintenance of warehouses, Ensuring the supply for his/her (hereafter referred to as “his”) domain of activity, managing his team, being responsible for material and equipment used by his team


Functional and hierarchical reporting lines

He answers to: Deputy Logistics managers and Aleppo Logistics coordinator  

He manages: Logistic assistants

He collaborates with: all the supervisors, Area Coordinator


Principal responsibilities AND TASKS:

1. Overseeing the reception of orders and supervising the quality control of goods received

-       Inspecting the condition of the goods delivered (quality control of packaging and boxes), and drawing the Base Logistician’s attention to any problems (damaged packaging)

-       Carrying out the count of items received compared to numbers figuring on waybill(s)

-       Assisting with noting the items received on the stock cards

-       Weighing and re-packaging the boxes of food products entering the stock

-       Repairing damaged packaging for correct, safe storage

2. Assisting with the dispatch of stocked items

-       Exiting stock only when there is an order form

-       Assisting in the preparation of orders by moving the goods into the order preparation zone

-       Assisting in monitoring the quality and quantity of prepared items

-       Packaging the goods ready for dispatch

-       Sealing the packages appropriately

-       Overseeing the labelling of packages in accordance with the waybills drawn up by the Store Keeper

-       Assisting with recording the exits on stock cards and project forms

3. Storing the goods and ensuring the stock is properly monitored

-       Arranging the goods on shelves or palettes (depending on the goods) in an orderly, clean and easily accessible manner

-       Checking foodkits every two weeks

-       Ensuring the depot is clean and swept every day; carrying out a thorough cleaning of the food  store and the areas around the stock once a week

-       Assisting the Base Logistician and other Logistic Assistant with the monthly inventories, stock takes and consumption follow up

-       Assisting with filling up of vehicles once a week in the presence of his manager

4. Watching over the security of the store

-       Checking that all the doors shut properly and all the windows are protected

-       Keeping an eye on all persons entering the stock, having obtained authorisation from the Base Logistician


I.                    Other

·         Other tasks assigned by employee’s Line Manager corresponding to actual needs of the mission, programs, and projects.

·         Substitute relevant colleagues (fully or partially) during their absence when assigned by employee’s Line Manager.

·         Understand and adhere to the mission’s National Staff Handbook, PIN Code of Conduct, PIN Key Policies and relevant guidelines.





  • Fluent written and spoken Arabic (Syrian nationality) and English mandatory!
  • Valid passport


Education and experience:


· University degree in international relations, social sciences, statistics, or other related fields preferably (e.g. economics, sociology, social work, psychology, law and human rights, etc);

  • Liaising and coordinating with Syrian civil society organizations
  • At least 1 years’ experience with NGOs.
  • Proficient in word, excel, power point, Skype and social networks;

The candidate is expected to have excellent analytical and communicative skills, show initiative and take both a hands-on and an analytical approach to tasks and problems.
