Position:                             Risk Management Officer

Reports to:                        Deputy Area Manager- Senior Risk Officer

Duration:                           12 Months

Position Summary:         

 

The Risk Management Officer (RMO) will be based in northwest Syria and will provide security support to RI operations in hostile/conflict environment. RMO will be responsible to support the Deputy Area Manager and Senior Risk Officer with the development, implementation and maintenance of the Security Management System in order to support Relief International’s programming in Syria. RMO will assist and provide support to Finance, HR, M&E and the Operations Departments to address threats to RI collaboratively and reduce impact or likelihood of these identified threats.

 

 

 

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

 

·        Track safety related incidents and developments in Syria and provides analytical and context update

·        Plan and implement security assessment for each location of RI operations and in new areas of planed interventions

·        Support Operations department regarding operational security

·        Help ensure the smooth running of the security department

·        External coordination with other security and access actors and establishing strong network

·        Follow up with security guards based in northern Syria.

·        Key point of contact in coordinating all meetings and trainings in RI office

·        Key point of contact in coordinating with cross border staff.

·        Helping in solving problems which RI may face in the areas of operations

·        Participate in giving safety and security trainings to relevant RI staff

·        Develop and disseminate safety and security alerts and advisories to all field staff

·        To ensure hibernation/evacuation/relocation plans are put in place and updated regularly.

·        Closely follow the security situation in Syria

·        Provide cover and assistance to other security staff in the field

·        Prepare security incident reports as required.

·        Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

 

·        At least on year of experience in direct safety and security management

·        Previous experience working in non-governmental organization

·        Strong organizational skills

·        High computer skills on MS Office programs

·        A demonstrated ability to multi-task and process information into action

·        Ability to work under pressure and with very short deadlines & strong communications skills.

·        Fluent in oral and written Arabic.

·        A good working knowledge of English
